During the General Meeting of the European Biomass Association (AEBIOM) elections were held for the Board, Romania being among the 16 candidates, represented by the Romanian Association of Biomass and Biogas (ARBIO), led by Ilias Papageorgiadis. ARBIO candidacy has been one of success; Ilias Papageorgiadis mandate will last for two years.

In the address to AEBIOM members, Papageorgiadis explained the advantages of Romania in the bioenergy sector and launched the idea of creating a platform for collaboration within AEBIOM between all countries in the South – East Europe, “from Greece and Cyprus to Moldova, Ukraine and Slovenia, with Romania in the spotlight”. “Thus, we will create opportunities for our members in several markets in the area”, said the President of ARBIO.

The European Biomass Association (AEBIOM) is the largest in Europe in the renewable energy sector, representing about 500,000 employees, over 60% of all renewable energy and 10% of total energy generation in the EU.

“Energy processing of biomass is the only technology that converts waste and scrap in cheap heat given to households, thousands of jobs, a clean environment, energy independence and dozens of other advantages that European countries already enjoy.”, ARBIO claims.
