The Association for the Promotion of Energy Efficiency in Buildings – ROENEF encourages the Government to create a functional program to support the renovation of single-family houses, as it is for the renovation of blocks of flats.

“Single-family houses represent 98% of the residential fund of buildings, but the allocation of funds to reduce their energy consumption is zero, as opposed to blocks, which receive significant amounts. We consider that it is time for the Government to assume the creation of a program for the energy refurbishment of the houses. Another option would be to activate the Casa Verde Plus program, which was created for this purpose but has not become a reality until now. The financing program for single-family houses of the Environmental Fund Administration should have two components, at least equally important: increasing energy performance by eliminating energy losses in buildings and only then introducing renewable energy sources. The effects of financing only renewable energy sources do not reduce consumption and do not solve the problem of building degradation, due to their inadequate insulation. We had good discussions in this direction with the representatives of the Executive, we hope that they will be transposed into facts,” said Mihai Moia, Executive Director of ROENEF Association, quoted by financialintelligence.ro.

In Romania, the residential sector has the highest share of buildings that require deep renovation, being responsible for about 81% of energy consumption. Single-family houses make up 65% of these buildings.
