Prime Minister Viorica Dancila announced on Monday, after the meeting of the PSD Executive Committee (CEX), the appointment of new ministers of Interior and Foreign Affairs.

Energy Minister Anton Anton will not be replaced, sources close to the situation told energynomics.ro.

The Energy portfolio, owned by ALDE, a PSD satellite party led by Călin Popescu Tariceanu, could have been handed over again to former minister Tom Petcu, previously stated sources in the market. Other sources pointed out as a candidate the MP Ion Cupa, from ALDE, member of the Chamber of Deputies and Senate’s Committee of Inquiry for the activity of the National Regulatory Authority for Energy.

Monday, the interior minister, Carmen Dan, forwarded her resignation, being replaced by the senator Nicolae Moga. At the same time, Foreign Minister Teodor Melescanu was replaced by Ramona Manescu, a former liberal party PNL member of the European Parliament.

Dancila also said at a press conference that six ministries have been under observation. Thus, the reshuffle may continue at the forthcoming CEX meetings of PSD announced for the coming weeks, where also a new deputy prime ministers will be decided – one of the proposals being Mihai Fifor, who could be appointed Deputy Prime Minister for Strategic Partnerships.

For the position of Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs “there will be a new discussion” – and “it will be a new discussion” for “the ministries that we will continue to be evaluated,” Dancila said.
