Prime Minister Mihai Tudose discussed on Thursday the investment opportunities in Romania with an official delegation from the Republic of China, led by Liu Yunshan, member of the permanent committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), at Victoria Palace.

“We have in Romania investment opportunities and a friendly and predictable business environment. We have all the elements necessary for a more active exchange between our countries in the area of trade, energy, infrastructure and production. China’s investment potential is impressive. We are pleased to benefit from China’s transport experience and to attract investments to produce in Romania for the Chinese market, as well as for the European Union market”, said Tudose.

The head of the Romanian Executive mentioned that there are concrete prospects for cooperation with the Chinese partners for the construction of the reactors 3 and 4 in Cernavoda.

In his turn, the senior Chinese official pointed out that Romania is a very important economic partner for China in terms of its geographical position as a commercial gateway in Europe. “There are many competitive companies in China, and the Chinese Government encourages these companies to invest in Romania, given the fact that Romania is China’s second largest trading partner after the European Union, but also the current investment and financial capacity of the Chinese state”, said Liu Yunshan. The Chinese official said that for the next five years, China expects to import 8.000 billion dollars worth of products and plans to invest 750 billion dollars abroad.

Also, at the Victoria Palace meeting, the possibility of setting up a Bucharest – Beijing direct airfreight and the potential of the Constanta harbour to act as a major trade hub between Asia and Europe were also discussed.
