Primary energy production decreased by 1.7%, in 2018, imports increased by 4.2%

Primary energy production decreased by 1.7% in 2018 compared to the previous year, imports of energy resources increased by 4.2%, gross domestic energy consumption rose by 0.4% and final energy consumption registered an increase of 1.5%, according to data published on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

According to INS, the total energy resources available in 2018 remained at a relatively constant level with 2017, cumulating 43.2 million tonnes of oil equivalent (toe), the decrease of primary energy production (-1.7%) being offset by increase of imports of energy resources (+ 4.2%), according to Agerpres.

Of the primary energy resources, the most significant variations were the coal resources, which decreased by 455,000 toe (-8.5%). Oil and electricity resources increased by 269,000 toe, respectively 147,000 toe.
