Orban: At the Government meeting on Wednesday we will adopt a first set of measures to reduce the effects of COVID-19

The government will adopt a first set of measures to reduce COVID-19 effects on Wednesday.

The announcement was made by Prime Minister Ludovic Orban, who attended Tuesday consultations with representatives of trade union and employers’ organizations, within the National Tripartite Council for Social Dialogue.

According to a statement from the Executive, the discussions focused on the solutions needed to preserve jobs and maintain the viability of activities in as many economic sectors.

The Prime Minister announced that, at the meeting on Wednesday, the Government will adopt a first set of measures to support companies and employees in the affected sectors.

“We will give a strong signal to the employees and the economy: The Government will intervene to maintain the jobs and continue the activity in as many economic sectors. Besides the decisions that we will take tomorrow, we will continue to take measures on which we will consult with the representatives of trade unions and employers’ organizations,” said the head of the Executive, according to Agerpres.

The set of measures to be analyzed and adopted by the Government on Wednesday aims to: increase the liquidity of companies; supporting the payment of the technical unemployment by the companies for the employees who will temporarily suspend their activity; reducing the direct interaction of citizens with state institutions, a measure in this regard being the extension of the term for the payment of local taxes; stimulation of production capacities for as many goods as needed during this crisis, respectively sanitary protection materials and disinfectants.
