As the new European regulation of the electricity market also requires the modification of the rules in the balancing market, OPCOM transmitted ANRE that there is an excessive concentration and a dominant participant in the market, which is Hidroelectrica.

According to e-nergia.ro, the operator of the electricity market OPCOM sent to ANRE several comments regarding the changes requested by market actors in order to adapt an order, a draft for now, by which it will be decided how to implement the EU Regulation 943 on the functioning of the EU power market.

A public debate on these changes is scheduled today, on December 17th. One of the changes in the balancing market will impose a single price deficit and excess imbalances and the removal of the upper limit of the imbalance price; for now ANRE set this level at the average price on the day ahead market – DAM plus 450 lei/ MWh.
