OMV Petrom extends the partnership with the Champions House Foundation for the next two years and supports with 200,000 euro the continuation of the project “Country, country, we want champions!”, the company announced.

Through this program, OMV Petrom supports the training of twenty-five gymnasts who train at the National Olympic Youth Centers in Deva, Constanța and Bucharest, coming from five sports clubs: National Sports College “Cetate” Deva, CS Dinamo Bucharest, CSS Bârlad, CS Farul Constanța and CSS 1 Constanța.

OMV Petrom funding will ensure optimal training conditions for young athletes: sports equipment and materials needed for daily training, recovery and support for participation in training camps and national and international competitions. Also, the coaches involved in this project will benefit from training courses.

“The performances in Romanian gymnastics arouse pride and have borne the name of Romania in all corners of the world. Gymnastics is a sport very loved by Romanians, with an impressive history and a promising future. We want to support the efforts to form the future champions, with which Romania will be proud,” said Christina Verchere, CEO of OMV Petrom.

The project “Country, country, we want champions!” started in 2014, at the initiative of internationally recognized coaches Mariana Bitang and Octavian Bellu, with the support of OMV Petrom. So far, the company has allocated over 2 million euro to finance the project and the women’s gymnastics team. The objective of the project is to relaunch Romanian women’s gymnastics.
