Nuclearelectrica’s 2020 net profit rises 28%

Nuclearelectrica finished last year with a net profit of 684.7 million lei, which, therefore, increased by about 27.8% compared to the previous year.

Energy production was 2% higher, growing up to 10,558 GWh.

EBITDA reached 1.3 billion lei, in addition by 10.6%, while the value of the EBIT indicator increased by 21.8%, reaching 766.4 million lei, according to Agerpres.

Operating revenues were also higher by 3.4% (2.5 billion lei), of which those from electricity sales increased by 2.8% (2.4 billion lei).

“Although 2020 was a difficult year, the SNN team maintained its initial strategy, both of financial growth, but especially for the continuation of current and strategic investment projects, the refurbishment of Unit 1 and the Project of Units 3 and 4. We have constantly ensured the strength to maintain the vital functions of nuclear safety, efficient operation as well as support functions, we continued the company’s internal projects in the area of recruitment and retention of highly qualified personnel and innovation by analyzing various new business opportunities: small modular reactors, the production of Cobalt 60, pure hydrogen,” said Cosmin Ghita, the general manager of the company.

On the capital market, the inclusion of SNN in the London FTSE Russell market index has been a positive signal since September 2020, with a maturation effect for both the local stock exchange and SNN shares.

“In 2020, we relied on the previously acquired resilience and we wanted to give a signal of trust and efficient management of the company, in a difficult national and international context, for our shareholders and investors,” Ghita added.
