Nuclearelectrica: Investment of 190 mln. euro in a detritification plant

Nuclearelectrica (SNN) and the EBRD are waiting for bids for a detritification plant until October 21, according to an announcement published by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

The expected cost of the project is of 190 million euro, which will be financed from a loan of 150 million euro from the EBRD and 40 million euro from Nuclearelectrica, according to financialintelligence.ro.

According to SNN, the objectives envisaged by implementing the Investment Project Strategy include reducing decommissioning costs, reducing operational costs by significantly reducing the need for radiation protection materials, reducing the costs of waste management resulting from the operation of the units and reducing planned shutdown times.

Also considered are the reduction of the downtime for upgrading, the reduction of waste management costs resulting from the upgrading, the reduction of upgrading costs by significantly reducing the need for radiation protection required during the downtime, support for upgrading, revenue from tritium sales and revenue from the sale of heavy water after detritification.
