National economic recovery plan: 12.5 billion euro investment in NES over the next five years

The national economic recovery plan has a chapter for energy, which specifies that in the period 2020-2025 are scheduled investments of 12.5 billion euros in both gas and electricity, according to e-nergia.ro.

Here is what he writes in the chapter “Energy” in the summary of the Plan:

  • The value of the investments scheduled in the National Energy System (NES) for the period 2020 – 2025 is estimated at 12.48 billion euros from energy production to intelligent natural gas and electricity transmission and distribution networks.
  • Green energy: onshore and offshore wind farms (2x300MW) – 4.6 billion lei; new hydro production capacities (Retezat, Vidraru, Mărișelu, Avrig, Bistra, Livezeni, etc.) – 1.6 billion lei;
  • Romgaz strategic investments worth 15.69 billion lei: gas turbine power plants (Iernut, Mintia), development of offshore projects Neptun Deep, East Rhapsody and Trident on the Black Sea, methanol plant (greenfield), new energy capacities in partnership with private companies (Chimcomplex, Alro, Liberty Galați, etc.);
  • Restructuring and decarbonization plan 2020 – 2025 of Complexul Energetic Oltenia S.A. in the amount of 7.2 billion lei;
  • Increasing nuclear power generation capacity by at least one unit by 2030 and extending the operating life of Unit 1 by another 30 years;
  • Increasing the capacity of electricity transmission lines and cross-border interconnection – about 4.6 billion lei;
  • Investments in the national natural gas transmission system and for interconnection with the international transmission system – about 9 billion Lei.
