National Agency for Mineral Resources (NAMR) will make available for auction in the next period 36 new oil blocks, including 28 onshore and the rest in the continental shelf of the Black Sea, including in deep sea areas, said Gheorge Duţu, President of the institution, quoted by Agerpres .

“We are preparing for the eleventh round of concessions in which we auction 36 new blocks. 28 will be onshore, and the others in the Black Sea, including in deep areas. We expect big potential candidates”, said Duţu.

According to him, the gas resources that could be found in the Black Sea could lead to energy independence of Romania.

“We will have to contribute to the restoration of Romania’s energy resources by attracting investments through a predictable and coherent legislative framework. Latest discoveries in the Black Sea could allow Romania to become a gas exporter starting in 2019-2020”, he added.
