MOL Romania supports the efforts to fight the new coronavirus by granting 400,000 euro to the Dăruiește Viață association. The association will purchase protective equipment and medical equipment for doctors and hospitals in the country that treat patients with COVID-19 and will direct part of the amount to the erection of Modular Hospital 1 Elias for the treatment of patients with COVID-19.

“Doctors and medical staff are currently at the forefront of the fight against the new coronavirus. We all hope for their professionalism and dedication to overcoming this medical crisis. However, it is vital that medical teams have adequate protective equipment and access to medical devices to treat COVID-19 cases. MOL Romania has been a constant supporter for the Romanian medical system in recent years and we are with the medical staff this time as well, because we understand that a common effort is needed to save as many lives as possible and to be able to safely overcome this unprecedented situation. Caring for communities is at the heart of the values of the MOL Group, which has been involved from the beginning in this counter-clockwise struggle through actions to support employees, communities and medical systems,” said Camelia Ene, Country Chairman & CEO of MOL Romania.

MOL Romania provides financial assistance to the association Dăruiește Viață, which will purchase protective equipment and medical devices (ventilation devices, oxygen masks, intubation kits) and will transfer them as in-kind donations to hospitals. Also, a part of the funds will be allocated to cover the expenses with the modular hospital that the association is building in the courtyard of the Elias Emergency Hospital in Bucharest.

In the last year alone, MOL Romania has sponsored with approximately 750,000 euro the endowment with modern equipment – including ATI beds and ventilation equipment, necessary today to treat patients with COVID-19 – at the hospitals in Miercurea Ciuc, Giurgiu and Gheorgheni. To these is added the investment of 425,000 euro in the construction of the heliport on the roof of the Marie Curie Emergency Clinical Hospital, the first heliport at a pediatric hospital in Romania.
