Romania can’t abandon the production capacity of the CE Oltenia until 2030 without an acute energy risk, according to the forecasts of the Ministry of Energy.

“The PRIMES modeling done by the Ministry of Energy in 2016, corrected with the realistic terms of modernizing of Unit 1 in Cernavodă in 2027 or 2028 and the commissioning of Units 3 and 4 at the end of 2030, but also with the production forecast taken into account as in Energy Strategy 2018 – 2030, shows that CE Oltenia will have to have a market share of at least 20% in Romania’s energy mix, the production achieved being about the same as the current one”, is emphasized in a Company’s note, quoted by investenergy.ro.

The document is due to be presented at the AGM meeting scheduled for April 12th.

The most recent assessment, the 2018 forecast for electricity production, presents new elements that have emerged in the energy sector over the past two years: coal-fired power generation will have a slightly downward trend from 17.8 to 15, 8 TWh in the period 2018 – 2030, is also shown in the aforementioned note.
