We continue to present the 2018 nominations for the energynomics.ro Awards, with the Manager of the year category. Only one of the managers below will be rewarded during the Gala from December 5th, but all and each of them deserve our respect and the widest promotion. We thank all the companies and personalities involved in this effort to draw the image of the Romanian energy industry in 2018 through its achievements!

Alina Popa – OMV Petrom Global Solutions SRL

For creating an even more competitive service organization through the introduction of 20for2020 culture change and idea generation platform, Design Thinking – Robotic Process Automation, and Digitization.

20for2020 Innovation Program is an internal initiative meant to identify and implement 20 innovative projects by year 2020. Design Thinking Incubator was built in November 2017 in which more than 10 employees to learn and practice, fault free, new user centric methodologies. Three projects, “Internet of Things Technology for Digital Oilfield Project“ , „Upstream Automated Forecasting Algorithm for Theoretical Production“ and “Self Service Portal” were selected for the incubator.

Also in 2017, the Robotic Process Automation (RPA) project was started in order to encourage the organization to implement new technologies within the current processes and steer the organization to digital era. The main and most important achievements for our organization is that the concept was developed 100% with our own resources (RPA developers, RPA business analysts, and change agents) and successfully went to go live phase.

Bogdan Badea – Hidroelectrica

For the outstanding financial results obtained by Hidroelectrica in the years 2017-2018. Bogdan Badea assured the management of the company so that Hidroelectrica could reach its profitability potential.

Since taking office as Chairman of the Hidroelectrica Directorate, the company has registered an upward trend in terms of financial results. In 2017, the turnover of 3.25 billion lei and the net profit of 1.6 billion lei represented historical results for the company. Outstanding performance – achieved in low-hydraulic conditions – was possible due to the managerial understanding of the energy market mechanisms, the implementation of an efficient contracting plan, and the optimization of maintenance programs.

Also, the financial results of 2018 show that the company obtained more than 1.9 billion RON profit at 9 months, with the prospect of exceeding 2 billion lei profits by the end of the year.

Cosmin Ghiță – Nuclearelectrica

Through a strategic approach to SNN’s activity, correlated with the evolution of the external environment, Cosmin Ghiţă adopted a series of decisions and initiatives with a direct impact on the development of the company, maintaining a constant dialogue with all stakeholders and actively participating in maximizing the performance of the company at all levels.

In one year, Cosmin Ghita promoted investment projects, adopted internal strategies to increase staff motivation and retention, initiated internal actions to increase company performance and provided stability to the organization in a transition period. SNN has improved its financial results by 16% in S1 2018 compared to S1 2017, while maintaining operating results at international standards.

In 2018, the Phase I of the Unit 1 Refurbishing Strategy was started (an EUR 1.2-1.5 billion worth project), the strategy for diversification of sources of raw materials supply was implemented, the strategy for implementing the detritiation facility was put in place (an EUR 190 million worth project) and a due diligence type analysis was initiated in order to take over the nuclear fuel processing plant Feldioara, currently belonging to the CNU.

Petre Stroe – MET România Energy

Petre Stroe professionally managed the second acquisition, for the second consecutive year, by MET Romania Energy. This, together with the current activity, put the company in the top 5 among the major electricity suppliers in Romania.

Following the acquisition of the power supplier Repower, in 2017 and RWE Energy in 2018, portfolios combining lead to an increase in MET’s operational efficiency in Romania, enabling it to offer its customers high-quality services.

Sorin Boza – CE Oltenia

For ensuring an efficient, market-oriented management that has enabled CE Oltenia to rank among profitable companies after three years of loss.

The financial results of the CE Oltenia followed, from 2017, a strong upward direction, registering an increase from -140 million lei to +280 million lei. The financial results are due to the increase in energy sales, turnover over 40% higher than in 2016, as well as the decrease in production costs as a result of implementing the management decisions. All this was achieved as the budgeted investment program was observed, all debts to the consolidated state budget were paid, all payments to the financing banks and suppliers were made in time, the acquisition of CO2 certificates was also observed.
