Italian company Alerion Clean Power signed a collaboration agreement with PV Project RO, a Timisoara-based company with Italian shareholders, for the development of PV plants in Romania. According to transivaniabusiness.ro, solar plants with a total installed capacity of approximately 200 MW will be developed.

Some of these plants, with a total installed capacity of around 33 MW, are scheduled to start operating by the end of the first half of this year.

The Italian company, specialized in green energy, has projects in Italy, Spain, Bulgaria and Romania and is not at the first project in Timiș, where it has wind farms in Jimbolia and Sânnicolau Mare, but also in Vrani in Caraș-Severin and in Aușeu in Bihor.

According to its recently adopted 2021-2023 business plan, Alerion intends to increase installed capacity to 1,544 MW by the end of 2023. At the end of 2020, the company had 835 MW. Target markets are Italy, Romania, and Spain, and the renewables mix will be expanded by solar photovoltaic investments in Italy and Romania, the company said. By 2023 the company plans to operate 1,244 MW of installed wind capacity and 300 MW of solar. Total investments in the 2021-2023 period are estimated at EUR 700 million.

Based in Timisoara, PV Project RO has been active since 2019, with three companies as shareholder, of which Heliopolis Development SRL owns 50% of the shares. One of the administrators is Alexandru Iancovschi, manager of operations at HeliopolisRo Energy & Engineering, a company representing the interests of about 15 companies that perform PV generation activities in Romania. They total almost 31 MW in installed capacity, with the largest projects in Dolj – Solaria Green Energy (7,67 MW) and Sun Energhes (4,23 MW). Heliopolis also has solar parks in Arad, Buzău, Cluj, Dâmbovița, Timiș and Vâlcea. With 9 employees, HeliopolisRo Energy & Engineering reported profits in each of the last three years for which data appear in the Finance Ministry platform.
