The National Company of Maritime Ports Administration (CNAPM) is investing from its own sources about six million lei for the extension of the natural gas distribution network in the entire southern area of Constanta harbour, said the spokesman of the company, Monica Velicu.

According to the CNAPM representative, the investment project “Medium pressure connection for the distribution of natural gas in the Constanta Port of the South area” is to be carried out within 24 months.

Petroconst president Dumitru Cilibia told Agerpres that the commencement order will be issued on July 1. “The works will begin on July 1, in the roundabout area of Gate 10B, in the southern area of Constanta Port, where we will connect to the Distrigaz Sud grid, in the Agigea bridge area and the network will have a length of 9 km. We also built a similar network for the northern area of Constanta Port in 2002-2003,” Cilibia said.

Monica Velicu said that after completing this project, over 30 large companies operating on the southern port platform will be able to use the energy resource for production and thermal energy. “The need to build a natural gas network has arisen because current sources of supply have a high degree of pollution, low energy efficiency and high costs. Distrigaz Sud Networks approved a delivery point for Port of Constanta at 10 Bis gate, with a distribution flow of 3,500 cubic meters per hour at a pressure of 2 bars.In the final dimensioning, an additional flow rate of about 2,500 cubic meters / hour was taken into account, which should cover for the port perspective development,” concluded Monica Velicu.
