Intrarom, a Romanian subsidiary of Intracom Telecom Group, finalized on August 18, 2020, a pilot contract with Oltenia Energy Distribution, within CEZ Romania, an electricity operator covering seven counties in the Oltenia region. The contract consisted of providing and installing a subsystem for measuring and transmitting information from single and three-phase intelligent meters (SMT), data concentrators, as well as the installation and commissioning of this system.

The project is an integral part of CEZ Group’s strategy to invest in modernizing the electricity metering system, a process that involves replacing customers’ electricity meters in the aforementioned areas with smart meters, which will be included in a smart metering system.

Specifically, this pilot project provided 10,000 smart meters, filters and data concentrators and services for their installation, configuration and integration into the existing IT system (MMDC), testing and commissioning, while involving all work related to the site, as well as staff training services, warranty services and technical assistance. Under this contract, Intrarom cooperated with two subcontractors: ADD Grup Moldova and ADREM Invest.

The project named “System for measuring and transmitting data from meters, consisting of single-phase or three-phase smart meters and data concentrators” is the second project that ADD Grup and Intrarom implement at DEO. The first was conducted in 2017 and served as a working base for DEO to understand the technology and choose the right direction in the smart metering strategy.
