The USR PLUS Alliance called for political dialogue in order to prepare a viable alternative to governance in 2020. In an open letter signed by Dacian Cioloş, President of PLUS, and Dan Barna, President of USR, the main lines of an agreement across political parties to which the “bona fide forces of society – political, academic and from the civil society” are called to participate.

The political proposals aside, the document lists 20 proposals for public policies, among which the energy priorities are listed under the 18th paragraph:

Achieving European energy interconnection and strengthening energy independence through refurbishment and intelligent restructuring of energy complexes, starting exploitation of the Black Sea gas deposits, for a competitive advantage of Romania

The USR PLUS Alliance proposes this political agreement in the context of what it calls a “special electoral cycle”: “after the presidential, local and parliamentary elections of 2019-2020, our country will have two electoral periods interrupted by elections only once, in 2024. This can bring eight years of stability and development, untainted by political struggles or by societal divides, around a solid majority and a competent government.”
