INS: Net investments in the Romanian economy increased by 1.5% in H1

Net investments made in the national economy amounted to 41.596 billion lei in the first half of 2020 (H1), up 1.5% compared to the first half of 2019, according to provisional data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

Thus, in the first half of 2020, compared to the first half of 2019, the net investments made in the national economy increased by 1.5%, an increase registered for new construction works by 7.0% and for equipment (including means of transport) by 2.3%. Other expenses decreased by 21.5%.

According to the INS, in the second quarter of 2020, the net investments made in the national economy amounted to 23.509 billion lei, increasing by 0.4%, compared to the second quarter of 2019, according to Agerpres.

INS data show that in the second quarter of 2020, compared to the second quarter of 2019, net investments made in the national economy increased by 0.4%, an increase recorded in other expenses by 15.5% and in machinery (including means of transport) by 0.7%. There was a decrease of 1.9% in new construction works.

The INS states that net investments represent the expenditures for the creation of new fixed assets, the development, modernization and reconstruction of existing ones, as well as the value of services related to the transfer of ownership of existing fixed assets and land taken over from other units or from the population.
