INS: National electricity consumption decreased by 5.1% in the first nine months

Romania’s final electricity consumption reached 39.3 TWh in the first nine months, down 5.1% from the same period of last year, according to a release of the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

Street lighting decreased by 8.1%, and household consumption increased by 3.6%, according to Agerpres.

Electricity exports were of 3.673 billion kWh, up by 1.095 billion kWh.

Own technological consumption in networks and stations was of 3.8 billion kWh, down by 211.9 million kWh.

During this period, electricity resources were of 46.7 billion kWh, down by 1.2 billion kWh, compared to the corresponding period of 2019.

Production from thermal power plants was of 14.6 billion kWh, down 14.6%. Production from hydropower plants was 10.2% lower, and that from the nuclear power plant was up 1.7%.

Production from wind power plants was of 5.2 billion kWh, up 379.6 million kWh from the same period of last year, and solar energy produced in photovoltaic installations during this period was of 1.4 billion kWh, increasing by 21.4 million kWh compared to the corresponding period of 2019.
