Individuals who want to produce renewable energy in capacities of up to 100 kW will be able to sell electricity to the distribution grid, and their bill will be offset by the amount of energy they are delivering, according to a draft order issued by the National Authority Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE).

The order could enter into force this Spring, said Zoltan Nagy-Bege, Vice President of ANRE. According to Agerpres, households producing renewable energy in capacities below 100kW will be able to deliver energy to the grid, and distributors in that area will be forced to buy it at the price they buy energy for their own technological consumption.

The energy bill of these consumers will be offset by the amount of energy delivered to the network. “The selling price of electricity produced and delivered in electricity networks by natural persons owning electricity generating units from renewable energy sources with electric power installed below 100 kW is the estimated average price of active electric power for covering the distribution operators cost with their own technological consumption in electricity networks to which the respective power plants are connected, set by ANRE by an order approving the tariffs for the electricity distribution service and the price for the reactive electric energy , for each concessionary operator”, the draft order states.

According to this document, “natural persons who sell electricity produced and delivered in electricity networks in power plants producing electricity from renewable energy sources with electric power installed below 100 kW, under the conditions of Art. 1 are exempted from paying for the generated imbalances”. At the same time, the energy that will be sold by small consumers on the basis of this order must be measured by smart meters or at least by meters which can ensure remote reading.
