The current cold season is the last in which gas suppliers were required by the Regulatory Authority to set up minimum stocks in storage depots. This obligation has disappeared, for the future, according to e-nergia.ro.

Thus, ANRE issued a new draft order, according to which the obligation of natural gas suppliers to constitute, in the hot period, stocks of 30% of the annual consumption will be maintained only in the gas year 2020-2021.

Following the waiver of this obligation, now seen as a measure of security of supply in the winter – but which would violate a European regulation (no. 1938), the Government will have to draw up a plan of measures for security of supply, but without including this obligation.

ANRE recently announced that the gas storage obligation for this winter has been exceeded.
