Frames analysis: Petrom, Lukoil, Engie and Romgaz, among the most powerful companies in Romania

The top of the most important companies that include Romanian shareholding is headed by OMV Petrom which, through the two companies considered in the analysis (OMV Petrom Marketing and OMV Petrom), recorded last year a cumulative business of 35.6 billion lei, growing with 6 billion lei compared to the level of the previous year (29.8 billion lei) and with almost 15 billion lei compared to the 2010 level (21 billion lei), a Frames analysis shows.

The following places in the ranking are occupied, in order of turnover, by the two companies of Rompetrol, Rompetrol Rafinare SA and Rompetrol Downstream (both with Romanian and Dutch mixed shareholding), with cumulative business of 25 billion lei in 2018, compared to 20 billion lei in 2017.

The ranking of the first 10 companies is completed by Kaufland Romania (mixed shareholding – German and Romanian), with business of 10.8 billion lei in 2018 and Lidl Discount (7.7 billion lei), both companies part of the Schwarz group. On the following places are located the building materials company Dedeman (7.2 billion lei), Engie (6 billion lei), Orange Romania (5.7 billion lei) and Romgaz (4.96 billion lei), say Frames experts.

In the top 30 – businesses that include Romanian shareholders follow, in the order of turnover, Hidroelectrica, Dante International (eMag), Electrica Furnizare, Mediplus Exim SRL, E.ON Energie, Fildas Trading, Altex Romania SA, OMV Petrom Gas, Oltenia Energy Complex, Transelectrica SA, Telekom Romania Communication, Takata Romania SRL, Alro, Oscar Downstream, Coca-Cola HBC Romania, Enel Energia Muntenia, Enel Energie, BlueAir Avation, Nuclearelectrica and Telekom Romania Mobile Communications. All this registered a cumulative business of 60.7 billion lei, compared with 58.6 billion lei in 2017.
