Foreign direct investment decreased by over 70% in the first two months of 2020

Foreign direct investments fell by 70.86% in the first two months of this year, to 409 million euro, compared with 1.404 billion euro in the same period of 2019, according to the data of the National Bank of Romania, quoted by Agerpres.

“The direct investments of non-residents in Romania amounted to 409 million euro (compared with 1.404 billion euro between January and February 2019), out of which the equity investments (including the estimated net reinvested profit) totaled 437 million euro, and the intra-group loans registered the negative net value of 28 million euro,” is mentioned in a statement of the NBR.

The number of newly established foreign capital companies decreased in the first two months of the current year by 4.6%, compared with the same period of 2019, to 892 units, according to the centralized data of the National Trade Registry Office (ONRC).

The 892 new companies had a subscribed share capital totaling $ 1.683 million, down 42.4% from January-February 2019.
