This morning, Hidroelectrica produced 45.6% of Romania’s electricity consumption after it reached the fourth level of production in history. on Monday.

Today, at about 8.00 AM, Hidroelectrica has covered about half of the national needs – 4.380 MW, out of 9,604 MW, according to the data published on the site of the national system operator Transelectrica.

“Moments like these clearly show how important the hydroelectric component is for the National Energy System,” said Bogdan Badea, President of the Hidroelectrica Directorate, in a press release. “The fact that today we can produce at such a capacity proves that the company has prepared itself properly to operate in peak conditions and has followed the maintenance and preparation programs for the cold season and for winter conditions,” Hidroelectrica official added.

The peak of production was recorded on Monday at 08 PM, when Hidroelectrica was asked to intervene for balancing the energy system, providing 4,563 MW, close to the highest level available for the day, out of a domestic consumption of 9,908 MW. The energy supplied to the grid was 80.7 GWh – the fourth in the history of the company’s production, with an ever peak of 83.9 GWh.

“I would like to repeat that we have set the focus of our business strategy on investing, re-engineering and maintenance so that Hidroelectrica’s performance to be sustainable. The good organization in the production area makes that our society plays a key role in the NES and we want to strengthen our position. […] Moreover, the energy we produce is reliable, and this is a tremendous advantage over other green energies, but also over the production from classical sources”, Bogdan Badea also said.

With an installed capacity of 6,444 MW, Hidroelectrica is a leader in electricity generation in Romania and the main provider of technological services required in the National Energy System.
