Fire at Petromidia Refinery, a welder from Rominserv lost his life

On Monday evening, an fire happend on Petromidia refinery platform, in the area of the vacuum distillation plant. During the events, four persons were injured, and one of them, a welder working in Rominserv, has lost his life at the hospital.

The fire has been neutralized in a few hours and the incident area secured by firemen teams of Petromidia refinery, next to those of the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations Dobrogea of Constanta County and the Midia-Navodari Firemen Station. The installation is shut down, the activity of the refinery being slowed-down.

At the company KMG International level, a team comprised of specialists was set up and an official investigation started to determine the causes that lead to the incident.

The company representatives announce they took all the necessary measures next to the responsible authorities in order to operate safely. “Based on the measurements on air emissions, following the fire, there were no recorded values that endanger the lives of employees and communities from the vicinity of the refinery or tourists, fact certified by CBRN analysis (Chemical, Biological, Radiologic and Nuclear parameters)”, a KMG International press release states.
