The Ministry of Energy will carry out a study regarding the immediate risks of each Jiu Valley mining operation, whether if it is in operation or in a closure procedure, so as to prevent work accidents such as those at the Lupeni and Uricani Mines, from October, said the minister of energy Toma Petcu at Uricani. “We want to do a much wider risk study upon each mine, upon each type of exploitation, even if we are talking about mines that have mining activity or mines that will enter into the closure period, as is the case with Uricani. (…) We are interested in the future in avoiding any kind of similar situation with the one from today (Monday, e.n.) and, very importantly, to see what is the prospect of mining”, said minister Tom Petcu, quoted by Agerpres.

The study will be coordinated by Doru Visan, Secretary of State from the Ministry of Energy, which deals with mining issues. He will form a team that will perform the necessary research upon each mining operation, will determine the immediate risks and measures that are imminent, immediately.

In parallel, the budgetary resources will be sought for the implementation of the established measures.

The Minister of Energy also said that the internal investigation carried out by Complexul Energetic Hunedoara was finalized in the case of the Lupeni mine sweep away, in which two miners died and one was injured in early October. The findings of the investigation will be presented on Tuesday at the Ministry of Energy.

At the same time, the ITM Hunedoara investigation still goes on in the case of the Lupeni mine sweep away, the conclusions will be known around November 30th.

A miner lost his life, and three were injured on Monday morning, in a deflagration that occurred in a gallery of the Uricani mine in the Jiu Valley, the underground mining being in a closure procedure.
