Enel supply companies have encouraged home consumers to accept offers from the competitive market since 2017, so that currently over two million customers are already on the free market, benefiting from a fixed price for electricity for 12/24 months, according to a company statement.

Thus, for most of them, Enel Energie Muntenia and Enel Energie will not apply any price increase on January 1, 2021.

“Of all the suppliers present on the Romanian energy market, Enel Romanian companies have the most customers who have already chosen the competitive market,” the statement said.

Currently, of the remaining 6 million electricity consumers in Romania with a regulated tariff, only 13% are Enel customers (800,000). In Banat and Dobrogea, almost 75% of Enel Energie’s total customers already enjoy competitive prices. In Bucharest, Ilfov and Giurgiu, the percentage of Enel Energie Muntenia customers already in the free market exceeds 66%.

“In the context of the changes on the energy market, since 2017, Enel supply companies have come to the aid of household consumers with a wide range of offers and products dedicated to the needs of their homes. Through offers, customers are guaranteed the services of an electricity supplier present in the whole country and fixed electricity prices for the chosen period, the invoice is detailed, highlighting all components, being much easier to understand, they can manage everything online, wherever they are, from receiving the invoice by email or SMS, until it is paid, they can send the index for free, which means that they are always sure that they pay exactly how much they consume,” it is also said in the release.

According to the quoted source, the important role in the process of transitioning customers from the regulated market to the competitive one was played by digitalization, extension of services and products that can be accessed online, with a direct impact in the business area. According to the company, only in the first ten months of this year, Enel concluded with over 40% more online contracts for the supply of electricity or natural gas compared to the whole of 2019, and the number of customers who downloaded the MyEnel application doubled during January – October 2020.

Enel Energie and Enel Energie Muntenia exceeded the threshold of 1 million customers who preferred the invoice in electronic format and gave up the printed one.
