Electricity price falls by more than 8% in September, amid rising trades

The price of electricity on the day ahead market (DAM) decreased in October by 8.25% compared to September, amid rising transactions by about 7%, according to the OPCOM report consulted by energynomics.ro.

Thus, the average closing price was 25% lower than in October of the previous year, reaching almost 42 euro/MWh. The value of transactions stood at about 85.6 million euro, marking an increase in the DAM market share of about 3.5%, to 43% of the forecasted net consumption.

The average price registered on the PCCB-LE-FLEX bilateral contracts market was of almost 50.9% euro/MWh, about 1,415 GWh being traded.

The Romanian market continued to be more expensive than those in the region, with a price of 39.3 euro/MWh being recorded in October in Hungary and 36.4 euro/MWh in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. However, the Hungarian market (HUPX DAM) registered a decrease of almost 14% compared to September – when the quotations were of almost 46 euro/MWh, for the baseload energy, which has a majority share, while the contracts for peak were cheaper by 8.75%, at about 45.4 euro/MWh.
