The provision of electricity and heating will require a total financing of 4.37 billion lei for the period November 1 2019 to March 31 2020, according to a draft Government decision initiated by the Ministry of Energy.

Out of the total, 3.14 billion lei represent the amount necessary to ensure the fuel related to the energy production and 1.23 million lei – for the repair works (538 million lei for repairs to the power plants and 700 million lei for the distribution networks and electricity transmission).

In the substantiation note, project initiators have shown that for the coming winter, the National Energy Dispatch (DEN) takes into account a 2.2% increase in electricity consumption.

“Taking into account the evolution of electricity consumption since the beginning of the year to date, the absence of signals on the emergence of new economic entities with relevant electricity consumption, the fact that the DEN scenario is built to take into account a scenario with temperatures around the monthly multiannual averages, the estimated average increase in consumption taken into account for the period from 1 November 2019 to 31 March 2020 is 2.2% compared to the consumption during November 2018 – March 2019”, the document shows.
