The 12 students enrolled in the Apprentice Electrician project and the three young graduates who completed the paid internship of Junior Electrician learned a lot about the digitalization projects carried out by Distribuție Oltenia, meant to contribute to the efficiency of the activity for which they are preparing. The 110/20 kV transformation station for the Eastern Industrial Area of Craiova (ZIEC), inaugurated by the Oltenia distribution operator in 2018, hosted the two generations of future electricians from Dolj county, during a meeting with Ondrej Safar, CEZ Group’s CEO in Romania.
The visit to the ZIEC station, the first greenfield-type work in Oltenia that aims to improve the quality of energy distribution, represented for the 15 young people a new opportunity to keep up with the technology and the latest investments of the Oltenia distribution operator.
“SMART Transformation, the project initiated in 2016 by the distribution operator within the CEZ Group, is the best example of new technologies that support the local development of the industry. The project aims to efficiently manage the additional requirements of the energy consumers on one hand, and to continue the reduction of the intervention time in case of an interruption in the supply of electricity, from the moment the distribution operator receives the information for the real solution of the problem, thus increasing the degree of consumer comfort,” said Safar, during the event.
One of the examples of actions for the benefit of the community is the Apprentice Electrician project, which reinforces the commitment of the Oltenia distribution operator to offer young people passionate for electricity the right conditions to perform in the field. After completing the vocational school cycle, 24 of the 33 graduate students from Argeș and Dolj have for the first time completed a paid internship with a duration of 6 months, provided by Distribuție Oltenia and its partners. Thus, the visit organized at the ZIEC station was an opportunity to reward the Apprentice Electricians enrolled in the program for their involvement, as well as the 3 Junior Electricians recently hired within the company, before the end of the internship period.
