The Association of Utility Companies shows that, in the event of a sudden deregulation of the gas and electricity markets, which could be reached as a result of repealing GEO 114, the purchase prices of energy and gas, which will subsequently be transferred to consumers in invoices, would grow too much to be borne by consumers.

“The sudden and complete liberalization of prices for final consumers will lead to increases of about 50 RON for gas, from 110 RON/ MWh, and about 100 RON for electricity from 490 RON/ MWh”, according to an ACUE document quoted by e-nergia.ro.

The estimation appears in a document elaborated by the Federation, in the context in which there is more and more talk at this time about the re-liberalization of markets of gas and electricity, which were re-regulated by GEO 114/2018, corroborated with GEO 19/2019. In this respect, in order to avoid an impact of the sudden increase of the invoices, especially for gas, ACUE proposes transitional measures before total reopening of the market.
