E-Distribuție Dobrogea has completed the two upgrading projects for Palas Sud primary station in Constanța and Ecluză primary station in Ovidiu in order to support the economic and industrial activities by improving the quality of the electricity distribution service. During the last year, following an investment of 8.4 million lei, two primary stations have been completely modernized for the benefit of 5,000 residential and industrial customers.

Thus, the 110/6 kV high/ medium voltage Palas Sud primary station from Constanța, which serves strategic service providers for Constanța residents, will provide improved services for the entire Industrial Zone of Constanța Municipality. The station was built in 1957, along with the industrial development of the area, and is extremely important for the more than 900 clients with economic and industrial operations in the Western part of Constanța. The upgrading construction works of the Palas Sud primary station lasted 12 months and the entire 110 KV equipment was replaced with digital relays installed for the high voltage lines.

The 110/20 kV high/ medium voltage Ecluză Ovidiu station provides the electricity supply for a residential area in Ovidiu – Palazu Mare – Lumina – Mihail Kogălniceanu perimeter of localities. At the same time, Ovidiu Ecluză station also serves 28 important industrial customers supplied through the medium voltage grid. The upgrading works that have been carried out over the last year, implied replacing the entire primary medium voltage equipment and all the related secondary circuit equipment, with cutting-edge equipment, thus ensuring superior technical performance, improving the network reliability and optimizing the grid’s maintenance.

Furthermore, in order to considerably reduce the duration of power interruptions for the customers, in the event of power outages, both modernization works are increasing the safety of supplying the entire area with electricity.

The works mentioned above are part of a larger investment program carried out by the distribution companies of Enel in Romania, which aims to provide a reliable service for the final consumers, the possibility to control the installations remotely and the improvement of the quality and security of the network, while, at the same time, comply with the company’s standards regarding the environment.

As a result of the investments made in the grid modernization, the three E-Distribuție companies from the Muntenia Sud, Banat and Dobrogea regions remain leaders in the top of the electricity distribution operators in Romania. According to the most recent official reports of ANRE, for 2018, the SAIDI index of unplanned interruptions (System Average Interruption Duration Index) for E-Distribuție Muntenia was 138 minutes, the best performance in the country, decreasing from 145 minutes in 2017. The following places in the ranking were occupied by E-Distribuție Dobrogea, with 188.8 minutes, and E-Distribuție Banat, with 214.7 minutes, both with better than average national performance, which stood at 224.1 minutes.
