We continue to present the 2018 nominations for the energynomics.ro Awards, with the Deal of the year category. Only one of the projects below will be rewarded during the Gala on December 5th, but every company and everyone involved in these projects deserve our respect and the widest promotion. We thank all the companies and personalities involved in this effort to draw the image of the Romanian energy industry in 2018 through its achievements!

Mazarine Energy takes over yet another 9 fields from OMV Petrom

Mazarine Energy Romania S.R.L., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mazarine Energy BV took over yet another nine oil and gas onshore oil fields and the working teams from OMV Petrom, after the 19 fields taken over through the agreement in 2016, completed in 2017. Mazarine has identified synergies with existing operations along with their development potential.

The nine deposits are located in the Moineşti Zemeş area and have a cumulative crude oil and gas production of about 1,000 boe / day. The deposits are part of the second outsourced deposit package within the Upstream optimization program. The deposits represent less than 1% of the current production of OMV Petrom.

The MET Group takes over RWE Energie Romania

MET and Innogy groups (ELMŰ-ÉMÁSZ) signed an agreement on the acquisition by the MET of RWE Energie (RWEE) Romania, owned by Innogy. Following this acquisition, MET enters among the top three suppliers on the competitive energy market in Romania, says MET in a press release in June.

MET Group is present in Romania through its subsidiary MET Romania Energy SA. “The acquisition of RWEE represents an excellent opportunity to integrate on the Romanian market a considerable portfolio of electricity supply with the potential to achieve synergies and to extend MET operations in Romania”, the company added.

Commenting on the transaction, Petre Stroe, CEO of MET Romania, said: “Following the acquisition of the Repower Energy Provider in 2016 and RWEE at present, portfolios will result in an increase in the operational efficiency of MET in Romania by offering high-standard services”.

Monsson Operation enters the PLC S.p.A. group

Monsson Operation consolidates its position in the international renewable market by entering into a strategic partnership with PLC S.p.A., a company listed on the Italian stock exchange. On 15th of October 2018, Monsson Operation signed the first part of the M&A procedure and thus strengthened its position in international market through a strategic move in which the PLC S.p.A Italy joins the Monsson Operation shareholders. By joining PLC, Monsson aims to ensure the financing of the projects under construction and of new projects that will be signed in the near future. At the same time, by integrating the two companies at a commercial level, the Monsson Operation services portfolio will grow significantly for existing customers and will also allow new customers access to BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) integrated services. PLC will provide Monsson Operation access to new markets, but will also give Monsson Operation the opportunity to be as independent and involved in strategic decisions as ever.

Transgaz has won the privatization tender for Vestmoldtransgaz

Transgaz Branch in the Republic of Moldova, Eurotransgaz SRL, won the tender for the privatization of the Vestmoldtransgaz State Enterprise, which operates the Iasi-Ungheni pipeline on Moldovan territory. This is the first time a state owned Romanian company enters a market abroad by a significant acquisition. Vestmoldtransgaz was listed for privatization by the Government of the Republic of Moldova at a price of 180 million Moldovan lei (about 8.8 million euros) and provided 93 million euros were invested in the next 2 years. General Manager of Transgaz Ion Sterian said that the company’s priority is to “complete the Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline project, which includes a pipeline of about 120 kilometers, four gas-regulating-measuring stations, two-way gas metering node and the construction of an administrative complex”.
