Daniel Daianu, the new president of the Fiscal Council

Daniel Dăianu was elected president of the Fiscal Council by secret vote of the members of the institution, and Bogdan-Octavian Cozmâncă will be vice-president, a statement from the Council says.

“The meeting of the Fiscal Council took place on July 16, 2019, where the president and vice-president of the institution were elected. Following the secret vote of the members expressed on the basis of article 56 of the Fiscal-Budgetary Responsibility Law No. 69/2010, Romanian Academy member Daniel Daianu was elected as the President of the Fiscal Council, and Bogdan-Octavian Cozmâncă was elected vice-president”, according to Agerpres.

For this position cadidates included George Georgescu, nominated by the Romanian Academy, Bogdan Octavian Cozmâncă nominated by the central bank (BNR), Georgiana Camelia Creţan nominated by Academy of Economic Studies (ASE), Daniel Daianu, nominated by Romanina Banking Institute (IBR), and Bogdan Sebastian Căpraru nominated by the Romanian Banking Association (ARB), all of whom are favorably advised parliamentary budget-finance committees.
