From a European perspective, Transelectrica is a bridge between two different regions as structure and level of development, said Corina Popescu, chairman of the company’s Directorate, at the Energy Strategy Summit 2017.

“In the field of energy, we are currently in a process of transformation. This transformation aims at advancing national concepts to a regional level, so that we move forward to the concept of a single internal market.” In this European context, Transelectrica is a bridge between two regions somewhat different in terms of structure and level of development; it is the Eastern European and Southeast European Central regions”, Popescu said, quoted by Agerpres.

According to Corina Popescu, Romania is well positioned in the Southeast European region, in geopolitical terms.

“From the perspective of the development of the electricity market and the way we have developed this sector, we are much more advanced than other countries in the central and south-eastern European region. In the next day market, we are linked to markets in Hungary, Czech Republc and Slovakia. We are part of the European projects in the development of an extended coupled market from 4 countries to 17, and we are part of an interconnection project for the intra-day market, “said Transelectrica official.
