The Minister of Public Finance, Florin Cîţu, said on Monday that he excludes the variant of an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), given that Romania has won the trust of the market and investors, and the financing needs for this year are covered in a ratio of almost 97%.

“I rule out the possibility of an agreement with the International Monetary Fund. I have shown this year that if you have won the trust of the market and investors, you can finance a large deficit without the need for international financial institutions. We financed this deficit to pay health, these aid schemes. We had record investments, so there is no need for an agreement with the IMF. From my point of view, there are no such discussions,” said Cîţu, according to Agerpres.

“I found those documents at the ministry when it was discussed last year, in September, with the Monetary Fund when, after the discussions with the Monetary Fund, a document was written in the Government which said very clearly that pensions will not increase by 40%. We are not taking into account a loan from the IMF. The financing needs are covered almost 97% for this year. So, we do not have any financing problems,” Florin Cîţu added.
