The state aid area is currently being rethought to be compatible with the Green Deal, and the huge sums circulated will be used with priority to support economic transformations related to climate, said on Friday, the President of the Competition Council, Bogdan Chiritoiu, according to Agerpres.

“The whole area of state aid is currently being rethought to make it compatible with the Green Deal. State aid will be favored over areas that are advancing Green Deal targets. That doesn’t mean it’s going to rain money everywhere. We still hope now, huge sums are being circulated, tens of billions of euros, that it is through the Resilience Plan, that it is through the regular budget of the Union … These amounts will be used with priority to support economic transformations related to climate,” said Chiriţoiu.

“Fortunately, many of the renewable energy technologies appear to be economically viable. Whilst Romania offered very generous subsidies in the previous budget cycle of the Union, at the moment the solar and the wind seem to be a team, can be viable and stay in the market without necessarily receiving subsidies,” Chiriţoiu also said.
