The project “Fuel Price Monitoring”, which contains information on the tariffs applied by the large fuel stations in Romania, seems to be going well, having over 1.3 million hits since it was launched, said the president of the Competition Council, Bogdan Chiriţoiu.

“The project seems to be going well. It has had more than 1,300,000 hits since it was launched. It will not be a miracle, we should not expect prices to drop dramatically, they cannot dramatically decrease, but it is a source of information for drivers, to know where they can find the fuel that interests them cheaper, and my expectation is that this more knowledgeable driver information will put pressure on companies that have higher prices to lower them to those who have lower prices,” Chiriţoiu told a television interview.

According to him, it is still early to quantify the effects of launching this project, but lately, fuel prices have been a bit lower than the European average, according to Agerpres.

“It is early to see this, so it is only a few months, I can not say that we can quantify the effect. But, by chance or not, lately, Romania is again a little below the European average for the price of petrol and diesel. Whereas in the last years we have gone a little above the European average, now I see that from the latest Eurostat data, both for petrol and diesel, we are slightly below the European average,” he stressed.
