The Competition Council analyzes the fuel sector, where prices are higher than the European average by 2-3%, Bogdan Chiriţoiu, president of the Competition Council said.

„The structural problem is that Petrom has about half the market,” Chiriţoiu said, explaining that the institution he is leading will issue new recommendations in the next few weeks without sanctioning companies.

The recommendations are designed to balance the market, possibly by facilitating the entry of other players. He said that a price cap would not be taken into account, but a reduction in taxes would be possible, if is to be passed on directly to the consumer.
