The total financing needed in the next 10 years for all modes of transport amounts to about 72.2 billion euro, said on Tuesday, the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communications, Lucian Bode.

“One of the most important milestones that define this year’s ministerial activity – and it is a reference document – is the Investment Plan for the development of transport infrastructure for the period 2020-2030. For the next 10 years the total funding needed for all modes of transport amounts to about 72.2 billion euro. This strategic document sets out guidelines for the transport sector, which updates on the one hand the strategy for implementing the General Transport Master Plan and which will be the basis for accessing European funds in the future European financial period 2021-2027,” he said, according to Agerpres.

Bode specified that there is also a need to accelerate the implementation of the existing infrastructure projects in the Investment Plan, but also of measures to increase the administrative capacity of the state for this process.

“Obviously, there is a need for an accelerated and efficient implementation of the infrastructure projects included in the Investment Plan, but at the same time there is a need to apply measures to increase the administrative capacity of the state in order to implement these projects. And I have always said gave some examples: increasing quality, feasibility studies and technical projects, streamlining relations with approving institutions and entities, improving public procurement legislation, introducing a system for resolving appeals quickly, increasing the performance of beneficiaries and effectively monitoring the implementation of these projects. The plan must be implemented responsibly and professionally because the next 10 years are decisive for developments in the field of transport, one of the major obligations for our country being the closure of all European transport corridors in the next 10 years,” added Bode.
