We are going through a special period, which challenges us to respond with wise judgment and special approaches in the field of strategic investments and energy security, believes Artur Stratan, president of ROPEPCA – the Romanian Association of Petroleum Exploration and Production Companies. “The volatility in the oil market, the fiscal burden (especially on the Upstream sector) and instability in regulations must be balanced by policies to enhance the Upstream activity. This can be achieved through a competitive tax regime aimed at encouraging the continuation of existing investments and at attracting new investment,” Artur Stratan said for energynomics.ro, the organizer of the Energy Strategy Summit to be held in Bușteni (Prahova), on June 4, 2015. “It is common knowledge that we have costly investments in production, such as those for increased recovery from mature fields, but they can be offset by minimizing the tax burden for wells and fields with low productivity. I believe that a public debate at the Energy Strategy Summit on the main issues facing the Oil & Gas sector will be beneficial to the companies involved in exploration and production, the Romanian state and the market in general”, Artur Stratan also said.
