Over one third (35%) of the total number of new and used cars entered in the national car park in 2019, had the Euro6 pollution norm or were electric (integral or plug-in hybrids), reveals an analysis published on Thursday by The Association of Automobile Manufacturers and Importers (APIA).

“2019 was the seventh year of consecutive increases in car purchases in Romania, an evolution started in 2014, after a year 2013 in which there was the smallest number of newly registered (new and SH) vehicles in Romania. Relevant for this evolution is the number of cars, which increased from about 280,000 units (new and SH), in 2013, to 606,163, in 2019 (…) A relevant aspect relates to the impact of car purchases on the level of pollutant emissions. From this perspective, 35% of the total number of registrations of new cars entered in the park from 2019 (new plus SH) had the Euro 6 pollution norm or were electric (fully or PHEV). In the chapter of “green” cars, the APIA analysis shows that their acquisition has seen significant increases in the last five years, even very large in the last two years. In 2019, the growth of the electric car segment was 150.3% (2.5 times), compared to 2018, and the hybrid ones by 79.7%. The analyzed data included the volumes of new cars as well as those run,” is mentioned in an APIA statement quoted by Agerpres.
