Transelectrica wants to be exempted from the liberalization of the cross-border energy market imposed by Regulation 943/2019 of the European Parliament, according to which “the transmission system operators do not limit the volume of interconnection capacity to be made available to market participants to solve a congestion within their own bidding area or as a way to manage the flows from the bidding area’s internal transactions,” writes profit.ro.

Transelectrica claims that compliance with the minimum threshold of 70% of the cross-border transport capacity would increase the risk of breaching the safety limits in the functioning of the National Energy System (SEN) in real time. The National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) has drafted an order in this regard, with effect from 1 January 2020, only that, in order to enter into force, the regulatory authorities of the Member States of the region must be consulted.
