Cars and motorcycles powered by gasoline or diesel will be banned in Amsterdam since 2030.

Next year, diesel-powered cars older than 15 will no longer have access to the city. Buses and coaches will no longer have access to the city center by 2022, and by 2025, the ban will include recreational boats and mopeds.

The city will encourage people to make the transition to electric cars and hydrogen by offering a charging station to every buyer of such a vehicle. There will have to be between 16,000 and 23,000 recharging stations by 2025 to make the project possible compared to the 3,000 currently in the city, according to green-report.ro.

Amsterdam joins other cities that take measures to reduce air pollution. Last year, Madrid began restricting access to gasoline cars manufactured before 2000 and to diesel cars manufactured before 2006, and Rome committed itself to ban diesel fuel in the city center by 2024.
