Acting Minister of Labor, Violeta Alexandru, announced that she asked the Labor Inspectorate to carry out a series of checks at companies in Bucharest and Ilfov county that carry out activities that involve burning processes.

“In view of the large number of notifications regarding possible violations of the environmental norms in the companies in Bucharest and Ilfov that carry out activities involving combustion processes, we asked the Labor Inspectorate to carry out, in parallel with the verifications carried out by the institutions subordinated to the Ministry of the Environment, a control related to labour safety. If the emission values are exceeded, then the first victims of these exceedances are the employees of these companies. I expect a detailed report of the Labor Inspection in the shortest time. As soon as we’ll have the information, we’ll make it available to the public. It should not be hidden,” wrote Alexandru on her personal Facebook page, according to Agerpres.

On Monday evening, Interim Minister of Environment, Water and Forests, Costel Alexe, told Digi 24 that by the end of this week, the National Environmental Guard (GNM) will have to present the results of the checks carried out to the economic operators that incinerate waste.

Costel Alexe announced on Monday morning the causes of the excessive pollution that was registered in the Capital during Sunday night in Bucharest. He said that there were uncontrolled fires, but there are also suspicions regarding possible industrial activities in Bucharest and Ilfov.
