The German Draxlmaier group, which has about 15,000 employees in Romania, has decided to suspend the activity of the local factories in Satu Mare, Piteşti, Timişoara, Hunedoara and Braşov, largely, according to Ziarul Financiar and Hotnews.ro. The measure comes on the background of measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus and in the context of reducing the activity of customers in the auto market.

“The suspension period will cover a period of two to four weeks, starting with March 23, 2020, and depends on future developments. During the period when the activity will be terminated, the employees will be in technical unemployment, receiving 75% of the salary. The resumption of the activity of Romanian factories will be decided according to the evolution of global events, on which the virus has an impact,” say company officials.

The group has 75,000 employees in 20 countries and has been present in Romania since 1993.
